The OnePlus One is a great device. We were really impressed with it when we did our review last summer. It’s got flagship specs, with a mid-range price. Here in the US, and most of the world, OnePlus has been selling the One on an invite system. Which has had a lot of backlash. However, in India, it looks like they’ll be able to get the device without an invite from Amazon. On March 24, users in India will be able to grab the OnePlus One from Amazon.in without an invite. Which is a pretty big deal, seeing as Carl Pei told us back in January that they won’t be getting away from that in the future either. Seeing as the company doesn’t want to sit on a ton of inventory, seeing as they are still a new startup.
As expected, supplies will be limited. So if you’ve been looking to get a OnePlus One, and you’re in India, you better act quick. The Silk White 16GB version is going to be on sale for Rs 18,999 (about $305 USD) and the 64GB Sandstone Black model is going to be sitting at a price of Rs 21,999 (or about $355 USD). Which means there’s only a $5 difference in prices between India and the US. This comes shortly after OnePlus raised the prices in the Europe due to the declining Euro. The 16GB OnePlus One in Europe is going to €299 and the 64GB gets bumped up to €349. Basically matching the prices in the US.
The OnePlus One is still a great phone, and it’s the company’s first phone. OnePlus has actually been teasing a new product that’s coming next month. They say it’s a “#GameChanger” so many of us are betting on VR or a gamepad for the OnePlus One. We’re also awaiting the OnePlus Two, or whatever the company calls the next generation device. Which we’re hearing is going to be announced in Q2 and Q3. OnePlus is still running Cyanogen’s software, however, they are releasing their own custom ROM called Oxygen. Which will be released next week, actually, ahead of CyanogenMod 12S. Lots of new software dropping next week for the OnePlus One though.
