Facebook acquires shopping search site TheFind

The largest networking site in the world, Facebook, which is not content with unprecedented profits, has now turned its eyes towards the e-commerce sector. The Mountain View, California based startup called TheFind which is a shopping search site, was acquired by the Zuckerberg owned network. While the deal has been announced, the terms have not yet been disclosed.
TheFind, which is not yet a decade old, “allows shoppers to search hundreds of different sites for particular products at once.”
Facebook acquires shopping search site TheFind Founded in 2006, the startup is ecstatic to become a part of Menlo Park based network, as is evident from their Facebook status. “We are joining Facebook!” they posted in big letters on the home page of their site.
“For the last nine years, we’ve worked hard to bring you a shopping experience that’s easy, efficient and fun—searching all the stores on the Web to find just the right products you’re looking to buy. We are now starting our next chapter by combining forces with Facebook to do even more for consumers. Facebook’s resources and platform give us the opportunity to scale our expertise in product sourcing to the over 1 billion people that use the platform,” they went on to add.
TheFind also added that some ‘key members’ of their team would go on to join Facebook as a part of the deal. While also adding that the site users will not be able to carry on their shopping searches through their site for too long since Facebook “will be taking our search engine offline in the next few weeks.”
Not wanting to disappoint the regular users of the site, they wanted to make sure that the acquisition touched a positive note with them.
“Facebook’s resources and platform give us the opportunity to scale our expertise in product sourcing to the over 1 billion people that use the platform.”
Analysts who have been reading in between the lines say that the two teams coming together might mean that Facebook users will now see only those ads which are extremely relevant to the products they have been checking, clicking on or searching online.
