A couple of recent leaks show that Lenovo might soon release Windows 8.1 versions of the tablets in its current Yoga Tablet 2 line-up. Long story short, Lenovo is likely to release Windows 8.1 versions of the 8-inch and 10-inch Yoga Tablet 2 devices, as well as a Windows 8.1 version of the 13-inch Lenovo Yoga 2 Tablet Pro. For more details, keep on reading the full article below.
A photo leak emerging from an Italian tech blog shows what’s allegedly a 10.1-inch Lenovo Yoga Tablet 2 using Windows 8.1 instead of Android. The design appears to be identical to that of the Android version, the only differences that we could spot being the addition of a dedicated Windows button on the bottom bezel, as well as a slightly darker color being used for the tablet’s body. At the moment, we are left in the dark with it comes to the internal hardware, but there’s a good chance that the Windows-touting Lenovo Yoga Tablet 2 series will use the same specifications as the Android versions. If this assumption turns out to be accurate, the Windows 8.1 versions of the Lenovo Yoga Tablet 2 series will come with an Intel Bay Trail chipset, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage space, and a fullHD resolution on all three versions.

A couple of months ago we’ve seen HTC make a similar move with the the HTC One M8, now available with either Android or Windows Phone on the same hardware, but so far we have yet to see tablet manufacturers allow Windows 8.1 and Android versions of the same device. Now that Microsoft has lowered or even completely eliminated the cost of licensing Windows 8.1 for tablets, chances are that we’ll see more and more tablet manufacturers allow customers the option to choose between the two operating systems.
The leaked images show that the Windows 8.1 versions might come with a dark gray housing, instead of the silver color theme that was used with the Android series. This could mean that the Chinese manufacturer will attempt to differentiate between the two versions by using a different color tone.
When confronted with this leak, our colleagues from TabTech.de found that the Lenovo Ghana website lists the Windows 8.1 versions of the Yoga Tablet 2 line-up, although detailed product pages are not currently available. Given that the Windows 8.1 line-up of the Lenovo Yoga Tablet 2 was already listed on an official Lenovo website, we expect to learn more details in the upcoming weeks.
