6.6-magnitude quake hits China's Yunnan: CENC

BEIJING, Oct. 7 (Xinhua) -- A 6.6-magnitude earthquake jolted Jinggu County in southwest China's Yunnan Province at 9:49 p.m. Tuesday (Beijing Time), according to the China Earthquake Networks Center (CENC).
The epicenter was monitored at 23.4 degrees north latitude and 100.5 degrees east longitude, and the focus of the quake was 5 kilometers deep, the center said in a statement.
The CENC says the epicenter is about 67 km away from Lincang city and 85 km away from Pu'er city. Strong tremor was also felt in the provincial capital Kunming.
